Baghdad The Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, condemned in the strongest terms the continued indiscriminate shelling by the Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.
“Israel commits a new crime against humanity every day that is added to its disgraceful record,” Aboul Gheit affirmed.
An official source in the General Secretariat quoted Abul Gheit as saying, “The bombing of the Qatar Red Crescent building in the Gaza Strip, which left martyrs, wounded and heavy losses, represents a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the ethics of war, and reveals the nature of the moral standards that the Israeli army adheres to.
The source added that “Israeli crimes against hospitals, housing and schools, as well as humanitarian and media institutions, are registered and documented, and Israel must bear responsibility for them.
Aboul Gheit stressed, “The necessity of holding the perpetrators of these atrocities accountable in accordance with the statute of the International Criminal Court, which previously announced that its jurisdiction includes the occupied Palestinian territories.”
