BAGHDAD / The Head of the National Iraqi Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim described the relations between Iraq and Iran as strategic, in addition to the efforts of Iranian President Hassan Rowhani in the development of bilateral relations.
"Since his inauguration, President Ruhani has been developing relations between Baghdad and Tehran," Hakim was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency on his arrival at the Imam Khomeini airport on Sunday, noting Iran's unique role in countering the terrorist-Daesh gangs.
Al-Hakim called for continued Iranian support for the reconstruction of the affected areas inside Iraq, stressing the need to develop bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and military industries.
Al-Hakim arrived earlier in the day to Tehran to participate in the ceremony of the performance of Iranian President Hassan Rowhani to the constitutional swearing.
