BAGHDAD / Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari called on Japanese companies to invest in Iraq and open a consulate in the province of Basra.
The Foreign Ministry said in a press statement that "Al-Jaafari met today with Adviser of the Japanese Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Kintaro Sonawara and discussed the relations between Baghdad and Tokyo and the way forward in various political, economic and cultural fields.
" Al-Jaafari said that Japan played an important role, early in supporting the Iraqi armed forces, and received participation and field presence in Muthanna province, and we look forward to stand with the same courage and presence in the economic field for reconstruction and construction.
The Foreign Minister called to "communicate in coordination positions in international forums, and encourage Japanese companies to invest in Iraq, and the opening of consulate in the city of Basra.
