Baghdad / The Federal police penetrated 150 meters of the southern axis of the city of Mosul, seeking contact with the forces in the west of the city.
"Our units have penetrated 150 meters in the southern axis and have made contact with the invading forces in the west towards the depth of the old city," Iraqi Police Chief Major-General Raed Shaker Jawdat said in a statement.
"Our units saved 40 families trapped in the booby-trapped houses in Bab Al-Baidh," Jawdat said.
"The field engineering battalion continued to remove the mines and traps planted by Daesh elements to block the progress of the units towards Al-Faruq and Al-Sargakhana Street."
