BAGHDAD / Iraq reaffirmed his support to the IAEA's technical approach to harness the use of atom for peace.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry said "The undersecretary of Foreign Ministry for multilateral relations and legal affairs, Mr. Omar Barzanji met Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Dzu Yank on the sidelines of Iraq's participation in the international nuclear security conference at the agency's headquarters in the Austrian capital Vienna.
During the meeting, Barzanji affirmed the support of the Iraqi Government to the IAEA's technical approach to harness the use of atom for peace, expressing the aspirations of the national authorities to further cooperate with the IAEA within the framework of technical cooperation that will be signed between Iraq and the IAEA for the five years from 2018 to 2023.
For his part, Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency said that everyone is hoping the return of peace in Iraq to enable the Agency to achieve more programs and develop prospects of further cooperation, expressing his gratitude for the Iraqi Government support to the Agency and to participate in its activities despite the challenges faced by Iraq in fighting terrorism ./
