BAGHDAD / Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jubouri expressed hope that the international community increases humanitarian support to restore the displaced and rebuilding their neighborhoods.
A statement by the Information Office of the President of the House of Representatives, said "Jubouri received today in his office, the Minister of State for the Japanese Foreign Affairs Quintaro Sonora and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they discussed the close ties between the two countries and ways of developing them so as to enhance cooperation and achieve common interests."
The speaker praised Japan's role in supporting Iraq, especially in the humanitarian field and relief, pointing out that the support and cooperation of the international community with Iraq and the Iraqi forces, who are fighting terrorism helped weaken these organizations dramatically after becoming a threat to international peace and security. "
He added, "The end of Daesh in Iraq is near, and we hope that the international community increase over the humanitarian support re- displaced persons and reconstruction their areas damaged by terrorism, stressing that Iraq sought to develop relations regionally and internationally, particularly at the parliamentary level."
