The General Company for Iraqi Ports denied, on Friday, the existence of any oil spill in territorial waters.
The company’s media director, Salam Al-Shahmani, said in a statement: “The news that was circulated about an oil spill at the confluence of territorial waters (Iraqi-Kuwaiti-Iranian) is fake news and untrue.”
Al-Shahmani explained: “The two tankers, Aframax Fortune Galaxy (9257010) and Serrano 2 (9165542), which were said to be the cause of the oil spill, were on the same date in the Strait of Hormuz and our observatories in the region did not record any pollution cases,” calling on all media outlets to “be accurate in reporting news, and to take it from its official sources.”
