Governor of "Lions Clubs International D.351- Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine" Fadi Ghanem honored National News Agency (NNA) Director, Laure Sleiman Saab, and several mediamen at "Le Royal" Hotel in Beirut, in recognition of their unwavering efforts in the advancement of the media sector.
The ceremony took place in the presence of scores of "Lions" Clubs associates and affiliates, as well as mediamen from the various Lebanese regions.
In his address, Ghanem greatly saluted all honored figures, and applauded in specific Sleiman's vigorous efforts in modernizing and bringing NNA up to date with the technical development witnessed in the field of electronic media.
"This is an honorable achievement for Lebanon," Ghanem said, hailing Sleiman's endeavors that kept the NNA up to the level of challenges posed by the era of globalization and information revolution.
Sleiman, for her part, said that 'media as a message' and the Lions' slogan share more than a common denominator, notably a long and arduous process of carrying a message of peace- with all its contents and implications- and embodying a freedom which we all strive to be protected.
"Your slogan is our slogan.. Truth, freedom and service are a triangle that sums up our daily work in carrying out our media message," Sleiman said, stressing NNA's absolute keenness on seeking tangible and well-authenticated truth and facts, avoiding the dissemination of unreliable information or invalid news.
Sleiman underlined that NNA is for all the Lebanese without discrimination.
