Caretaker Prime Minister, Tammam Salam, met on Friday at Msaytbeh residence with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Philippe Lazzarini.
Lazzarini thanked Salam for his cooperation during the last few years with the UN and the international community.
He also said that the UN followed the critical situation in Lebanon, and it would preserve its support for the country in the next phase.
Salam also received Iraqi Vice-President, Iyad Allawi, with talks touching on the local and regional situations.
"What is happening today in Lebanon is a historic opportunity towards the achievement of balance, stability and moderation and to build state institutions," Allawi pointed out.
"I push Lebanese youth for cohesion and unity, and I urge the Lebanese political forces to reach political balance," he added.
Salam also met with a delegation from the Lebanese army who handed him an invitation to attend the ceremony held on the occasion of Independence Day.
