Baghdad The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met, on Sunday, with a high-level American delegation, which included Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Joy Hood, Acting Special Representative for Syria Affairs Aimee Cutrona, and Director of Iraq and Syria Affairs in the National Security Council Zahra Bill.

A statement by the Presidency of the Region stated that the President discussed with the delegation the local situation, the relations of Erbil and Baghdad, the upcoming elections, the movements and concerns of ISIS, and the duties of the international coalition in Iraq.

The statement added, “The two parties’ views coincide that ISIS is a great and continuous threat to the security and stability of Iraq and the region, to confront and permanently eliminate it. And Iraq and the Kurdistan region are in constant need of support for the international coalition.”

The two parties also confirmed the support and coordination of the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi forces, as they discussed the Syrian situation and developments there for the future of that country.
