The representative of the /State of Law/ coalition, Thaer Makhif Al-Jubouri, confirmed the existence of political consensus among the blocs on approving the draft second amendment to the General Amnesty Law.

Al-Jubouri said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “Each political bloc has a specific law that it wants to pass in parliament, and therefore there is currently consensus among the political blocs to pass some draft laws, with political consensus, including the general amnesty law.

He explained: “The draft general amnesty law does not concern a specific political bloc, because most of the components and political blocs have prisoners in prisons, and therefore it is in everyone’s interest to pass the law so that those included in the draft law are released as soon as possible.”

He pointed out: “The approval of the draft second amendment to the general amnesty law will not be delayed, and will be approved soon, after placing simple notes from the political blocs on it in the second
reading of the draft law.

It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives will begin today, Saturday, with the first reading of the draft law of the second amendment to the amnesty law No. 27 of 2016.
