Baghdad The Head of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Thabet Al-Abbasi, affirmed the parliament’s support for enacting a law to recover “the proceeds of corruption and hold accountable the corrupt persons presented by the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, to the House of Representatives.”

He told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that this law is one of the important laws to recover Iraqi money, and we needed this law to recover the smuggled and frozen money since the period of the previous regime, explaining that the Parliamentary Integrity Committee supports the legislation of this law, and it must be passed in Parliament as soon as possible. It can be implemented with the countries of the world. ”

He explained, “there is money smuggled from Iraq and is indicated and we know where it is, so we need this law to recover it, with the participation of all departments concerned with combating corruption.”

Last Sunday, the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, presented a draft law to “recover the proceeds of corruption” and hold the corrupt accountable and bring them to justice.
