Baghdad The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received today, Sunday, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riyad Al-Maliki.

At the outset of the meeting, the Minister Al-Maliki delivered the President, Barham Salih, a written message from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the official and popular Iraqi position regarding the events that took place in al-Quds and the Palestinian territories during the past days, praising Iraq’s steadfast position on the rights of the Palestinian people and their just cause.

During the meeting, they discussed the situation in al-Quds and the Palestinian territories, the inhuman violations and attacks that the Palestinian people were subjected to in Quds and the Gaza Strip, as well as the fraternal relations and joint ties between Iraq and Palestine, and the need to work on developing and advancing them, in a way that serves the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

The President of the Republic renewed Iraq’s position on the centrality of the Palestinian issue, and standing by the brotherly Palestinian people in achieving their aspirations and obtaining their full legitimate rights, stressing the importance of solidarity, coordination and effective action at all levels to end this suffering, protect the rights of the Palestinian people and prevent attacks against them.

For his part, Minister Riyad Al-Maliki expressed his thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic, praising the official and popular position of Iraq, and Iraq’s adherence to the need for the Palestinian people to obtain their full legitimate rights and stop the attacks against them.
