The Syrian government announces a cessation of fightings in Daraa for 48 hours

BAGHDAD - The Syrian army command announced a cessation of combat operations against armed groups in the city of Daraa for 48 hours in support of national reconciliation efforts.

The General Command of the Syrian army confirmed in a statement today "the cessation of combat operations starting at 12 noon today in the city (Daraa) for 48 hours."

It said in a statement that the Syrian government is keen to strengthen local reconciliation in various areas in parallel with the ongoing military and armed forces operations to root out terrorism and restore security and stability to all of Syria.
