BAGHDAD / US Vice President-elect Mike Pence confirmed in a telephone call yesterday evening, with the President of Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani, the President-elect support to the people of Kurdistan.
He noted that he had visited the Kurdistan Region earlier, expressing "appreciation for the struggle of the people of Kurdistan and the sacrifices of the Peshmerga forces and their role in defeating the terrorists."
In another aspect of the conversation, Pence confirmed "that the President-elect and Vice President and his new American Administration support the people of Kurdistan and the Peshmerga and will continue to do so."
For his part, Barzani congratulated the President-elect and Vice President on the occasion of winning the presidential election, thanking the President-elect, who expressed during the campaign support for the position of the people of Kurdistan.
Barzani stressed that "the people of Kurdistan faced a lot of injustice and inequality," hoping that the new US Administration will support "the legitimate demands of the people of Kurdistan."
The two sides stressed the importance of "strengthening the bonds of relations between the Kurdistan region and the United States"
