Three Kurdish militants killed in northern Iraq in a Turkish air strike

BAGHDAD - The Turkish military said that three Kurdish militants were killed in an air strike by Turkish army aviation in northern Iraq.

A statement issued by the Turkish Chief of General Staff said that its air force carried out a raid on the area of "Mitna" in northern Iraq, killing three gunmen from the Kurdish PKK armed organization and the destruction of a store of weapons and ammunition.

The statement added that the raid came against the backdrop of intelligence information, reported the readiness of Kurdish militants to carry out attacks inside Turkish territory targeting civilians and elements of Turkish security, according to the statement.

The security forces and the Turkish army have repeatedly targeted the PKK sites and pursued their elements, south and south-east of Turkey and northern Iraq, in response to armed attacks inside Turkey from time to time.
