BAGHDAD / Twelve elements of Daesh were killed during the liberation of border areas with Saudi Arabia from a sympathetic organization.
"A joint force of the Iraqi army and tribesmen carried out a military operation to comb the areas surrounding the port of Nukhayb border with Saudi Arabia," a security source said, adding that the operation extended from Medisys airport to Wadi al-Abaidh area, at an estimated distance of 117 kilometers west of Anbar province. .
He added that "the force killed 12 elements of Daesh and seizing of a group of weapons left by the elements of Daesh after fleeing from the military forces towards the desert areas.
The border area of Nukhayb, 600 km west of Baghdad, is the only land crossing with Saudi Arabia, which is used by pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah.
