Unidentified gunmen beat a journalist, north of Baghdad

BAGHDAD / The Iraqi Observatory of press freedoms of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate denounced the assault act on colleague / Adib Mutea al-Haj / by an armed group on Saturday night when he was returning to his home north of Baghdad.

A statement by the observatory said that "Al-Haj was surprised by a car from which four gunmen armed with light weapons got out and brutally beat him with the butts of their guns, and then left him and fled to an unknown destination."

Al-Haj said he was returning to his home when the four people attacked him they said to him / You journalists must keep silent in any way / and then beat him and caused him injuries and bruises in the face and head.

The journalist Adib Al-Haj is a member in the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, has been working in Al-Sumaria who is a senior journalist have already been subjected to kidnapping in 2006 and released several days later, and the kidnappers told him they were unhappy with the way of his journalistic work.
