A plan to blow up the transmission towers in Diyala was thwarted

Baquba Diyala police thwarted a plot to blow up electric power transmission towers in the province.

The Security Media Cell said in a statement, a copy of which was received by the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) today, that accurate intelligence enabled the security forces in the Diyala Operations Command, in coordination with the Jalawla Police, to thwart an attempt to target electric power transmission towers in the Helwan and Sayed Jaber area of Jalawla district in Khanaqin district, northeast of Baquba.

It added that the security forces seized explosive devices that were close to the towers, which were placed by “terrorist” elements with the aim of damaging the electrical system, noting that the explosives control department in Diyala Police managed to deal with them without incident.
