Al-Araji discusses with the Minister of Water Resources the support of the National Security Advisory in the field of water security protection

Baghdad The National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, received in his office today, Thursday, the Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani.

The Advisory statement said that during the meeting, they discussed the problems and challenges facing the work of the Ministry of Water Resources, and ways to address the water shortage in the Tigris River.

Al-Hamdani discussed a number of obstacles that led to the decline of the Tigris River and its impact on agriculture in Iraq, calling on the National Security Adviser to support the Ministry in protecting water security, as it is part of the Iraqi national security, in addition to allocating a security force to protect dams and regulators.

The meeting also witnessed an agreement to hold a water security conference under the supervision of the National Security Adviser, dealing with Iraq’s relationship with the two upstream countries (Turkey and Iran), and to put forward proposed solutions through a joint working committee to come up with a unified vision and develop appropriate solutions to the problem of receding water.
