Demonstration in Al-Khalis, in Diyala, to protest against the deterioration of electricity

Baquba The people of Khalis district in Diyala governorate demonstrated against the deterioration of electricity, and threatened to cut off the vital Baghdad-Kirkuk road if their legitimate demands are not met.

NINA’s correspondent said that dozens of residents of Al-Khalis district, north of Baquba, demonstrated in front of the Electricity Directorate building in the district, raising banners expressing their discontent and anger at the deterioration of the electricity reality and the lack of justice in the process of supplying electric power to the areas despite the presence of the Iranian electricity line and the Mansouriya gas station.

The demonstrators gave the government agencies concerned with the electricity file / 3 / days to respond to their demands and supply the neighborhoods of Al-Khalis with electricity, otherwise, they will cut the Baghdad-Kirkuk road.

For his part, the mayor of Al-Khalis, Uday Al-Khadran, said that the district suffers from a clear deprivation of electric current quotas, which led to the disruption of life interests and the occurrence of a water crisis due to the suspension of filtering stations and pumps of liquefaction projects. He called on the Diyala administration and those responsible for managing the electricity file to be fair to the district and to respond to the people’s demands to avoid repercussions and popular anger that cannot be contained.
