Government pledges to end the peaceful sit-in in Khanaqin

Baquba Civil activists in Khanaqin, in Diyala Governorate, confirmed the end of the peaceful sit-in in front of the District government building, amid government pledges to address service problems.

Activist Abbas Al-Arkawazi told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) today that the sit-in marquee was lifted in front of the Khanaqin District building, northeast of Baquba, after the local administration agreed with the demonstrators to address the deteriorating service situation, pointing out that the Muntheria International Road was reopened to the movement of commercial convoys.

He added that a mobile power station arrived from Baghdad to Khanaqin to treat power cuts and maintain their durability, which is an important step to solve a large part of the district’s problems.
