Nineveh Traffic Directorate: 90 accidents caused 26 deaths and 166 injuries within 6 months

Mosul The Nineveh Governorate Traffic Directorate announced a high number of traffic accidents caused by speed and non-compliance with traffic instructions throughout the governorate.

The Director of Nineveh Traffic Directorate, Brigadier General Sami Abdul-Khaleq Musa, told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that “in the first 6 months of this year, Nineveh province recorded 90 accidents, causing 26 deaths and 166 injuries,” adding that “all these accidents were due to excessive speed and non-compliance with traffic lights.

He added, “the Nineveh Governorate Traffic has tightened its legal penalties against violators, from withdrawing licenses to imposing financial fines and to imprisonment for a period of no less than 6 months for those caught driving without a driving license.”
