Baghdad The Federal Supreme Court stressed, today, Thursday, that the upcoming parliamentary elections will be held on time.
In a statement to the court, it said that “the integrity of the electoral process is the responsibility of all federal authorities by providing them with all constitutional and legal guarantees, including adherence to the dates set for holding national elections, and that this represents the main pillar for gaining the citizen’s confidence in the electoral process.”
It added, “the Independent High Electoral Commission, with its independence and impartiality, and in cooperation with the federal authorities, should work for the participation of everyone in the elections by increasing the electoral awareness of the citizen and considering this as a national duty for the people to exercise their political rights in accordance with Article 20 of the Constitution.”
It added, “reforming the political process in Iraq and achieving the principle of peaceful transfer of power is achieved through the participation of everyone in the elections, preventing the use of political money in illegal ways in the elections and preventing the use of all illegal methods to influence its results in order to ensure high credibility and clear integrity of the electoral process and that this is the duty of the federal authorities and the Independent High Electoral Commission.”
