Baghdad MP for the State of Law Coalition, Alia Nassif, demanded the merging of the Ministries of electricity and oil and the expulsion of investors associated with one of the pillars of the government.
She said in a statement today that the great failure in providing electricity to the point of complete power cuts in all governorates, and it has become imperative for the government to merge the ministries of electricity and oil if there is a serious will to develop the dilapidated reality of electricity in Iraq.”
Nassif added: “We have also repeatedly warned of the corruption found in investment contracts in electricity, which have been monopolized by specific parties since 2003 until today . The Prime Minister must dismiss all investors associated with one of the government’s pillars, as these are a major and direct cause of all corruption operations that have hindered the development of the electricity sector and the looting of billions of dollars for nothing.”
