Baghdad The United Nations Development Program in Iraq, in partnership with the Supreme Judicial Council and the government of the United States of America, will organize, next Tuesday, a conference to launch a new project aimed at strengthening the investigation of complex organized and financial crimes in Iraq.
The resident representative of the program in Iraq, Zina Ali Ahmed, said in a statement to the official newspaper: “The project is a partnership between the Supreme Judicial Council and the United Nations Development Program with funding from the United States government, and it will be attended by the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan and representatives of the American Embassy in Iraq, resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program.
She added that “the project will enhance and support capabilities to complete investigations into complex organized and financial crimes in Iraq, and focuses on enhancing the skills, expertise, techniques and procedures necessary for Iraqi judges and others involved in the investigative process in complex financial cases.”
On May 25 of this year, the United Nations Development Program in Iraq launched a project to enhance Iraq’s efforts to combat corruption, funded by the European Union.
