Baghdad Lebanese President Michel Aoun officially assigned today, Monday, Najib Mikati, to form the new government.

President Aoun issued a decree assigning Najib Mikati to form the new government, after the latter limited the necessary parliamentary votes to binding parliamentary consultations.

The Lebanese businessman and former Prime Minister Najib Mikati received 73 votes out of 118 MPs in Parliament.

It is noteworthy that Mikati headed the Lebanese government twice, the first in 2005 and the second in 2011.
