Baghdad Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, announced today, Tuesday, that the Kremlin believes that the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan are completely different, noting that it is unlikely that a comparison between them will be made.
“There were previous statements by representatives of the United States, the presidential administration that it would be necessary to leave Iraq sooner or later,” Peskov told reporters, according to “Sputnik”.
Speaking to reporters, Peskov noted that “the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan is completely different.”
Asked by reporters whether the Russian president would welcome such a decision, Peskov said: “Let’s put it this way, they [situations] are completely different. Perhaps it is difficult to find any similarities here. But I repeat once again, we all would like the possibility of conflict not to grow in the area.”
