Baghdad The Iraqi Republican Gathering Party (al-Jumhori) announced its withdrawal from the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The party said in a statement: “The party’s general secretariat noted that the Iraqi arena remaining on the same approach controlling the country’s conditions due to the powerful forces of quotas, corruption and political sectarianism, enhances the awareness among national entities that the upcoming elections will not lead to any change in the Iraqi political scene.”
The statement added: “The party’s general secretariat has decided to withdraw from participating in the upcoming elections, and that our decision represents a bias towards the interests of our people and a confirmation of our consistent approach in adhering to the national program based on building a state of citizenship, institutions and social justice (the civil and democratic state).
