Baghdad Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi affirmed that Iraq is seeking to adopt everything that enhances the policy of calm in the region.

Al-Kadhimi said during his meeting today, Wednesday, with US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as part of his current visit to the American capital, Washington, according to a statement by his media office: “Iraq is seeking to adopt everything that enhances the policy of calm in the region, as well as its progress in promoting reforms, and fighting Corruption, enhancing its internal security, and creating a suitable environment that attracts investment.

Pelosi welcomed Al-Kadhimi’s visit to the United States and the US Congress building, stressing the council’s support for the steps and initiatives of Mr. Al-Kadhimi’s government and its growing role in promoting regional security and stability.

Pelosi also affirmed the US Congress’ support for the Iraqi government’s efforts to make the upcoming October elections a success.

The Speaker of the US House of Representatives also stressed the importance of continuing bilateral cooperation in the fight against the Corona pandemic, and the United States continuing to provide support to the Iraqi people by contributing to the provision of vaccines.

According to the statement, the meeting witnessed a discussion of ways to enhance cooperation between Iraq and the United States at various economic levels and the horizon for joint political coordination, as well as cooperation in the fields of education, culture, investment, and others.
