Baghdad The Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, stressed the importance of supporting Iraq in security and economy in order to achieve stability.

Al-Halbousi called, during his meeting today, Wednesday, with the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher in Paris, to expand the participation of French companies in investing in Iraq, and to expedite the implementation of strategic projects agreed upon between the two countries. He pointed out the necessity of opening a headquarters of the French Development Agency in Baghdad to facilitate the provision of economic support to Iraq

For his part, the President of the French Senate affirmed his country’s readiness to provide political, economic and security support to Iraq, pointing to France’s readiness to provide its experience and support with ideas and consultations to form the second legislative chamber (the Federation Council) in Iraq, and to continue cooperation to combat extremism and terrorism, and to contribute to a greater role for the construction and reconstruction in Iraq, stressing: “France is making efforts to enhance means of cooperation between the two countries.”
