Moscow and Baghdad discuss strengthening relations between them and revitalizing dialogue on the Middle East

Baghdad The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and African countries, Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed today, Friday, with the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nizar Al-Khairallah, through the phone, the strengthening of relations between Moscow and Baghdad.

A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said, according to Sputnik: “Some urgent issues were addressed to further strengthen the traditionally friendly Russian-Iraqi relations, including maintaining an active political dialogue on Middle Eastern issues of common interest.”

The statement explained that the two sides exchanged views on the main aspects of the international and regional agenda, with a focus on the situation in and around Iraq.

Yesterday, Bogdanov discussed with the Iraqi Ambassador in Moscow, Abdul Rahman Al-Husseini, preparations for the ninth meeting of the Russian-Iraqi Committee for Cooperation in the Fields of Trade, Economy, Science and Technology, which will be held in Moscow from 24 to 26 August.
