In a televised speech, Biden: Our specific steps in Afghanistan are to protect our interests

Baghdad US President Joe Biden affirmed that the specific steps we have taken are to protect US interests in Afghanistan.

“My team and I are monitoring the situation in Afghanistan,” Biden said in a televised address.

He added: Our mission in Afghanistan was not to build a nation or form a democracy, but it was to prevent any attack on our lands.

He explained that: Withdrawal from Afghanistan is the right option, and we have spent about a trillion dollars, indicating that the Afghan leadership left the country and fled, and its armed forces were not up to par.

He indicated that the US forces are working to secure Kabul Airport.
