Baghdad US President Joe Biden announced that more than 6,000 US soldiers, including Marines, are to secure the departure of civilians from Afghanistan.
In his speech today, he said: “We have provided services to evacuate journalists from Afghanistan, making it clear to the Taliban that any attack on our forces or disruption of the evacuations will be responded to decisively and immediately.”
Biden added: “We are keen that Afghanistan does not become a base for terrorist attacks. Our NATO allies stand firmly with American forces.”
Biden said: We will work to put international pressure on the Taliban in order to protect the Afghan people.
US President Joe Biden made it clear: The Afghan leadership was not expected to leave the country.
