The Jordanian King And Egyptian President Stress The Importance Of Transforming The Ceasefire In Gaza Into An Extended Truce

 

Baghdad Jordan’s King Abdullah II met today, Sunday, in the capital, Baghdad, with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on the sidelines of the 4th Jordanian-Egyptian-Iraqi tripartite summit.

According to Jordan’s Petra News Agency, during the meeting, it was emphasized to maintain coordination and consultation on various issues of common interest, in order to achieve the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples, and to serve Arab issues.

The meeting also dealt with mechanisms for enhancing cooperation in various fields, especially efforts to reduce the humanitarian and economic effects of the Coronavirus.

They also discussed “the latest developments in the region, where the importance of transforming the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip into an extended truce, pushing towards a political solution that achieves the legitimate rights of the Palestinian brothers, and the need to stop all illegal Israeli aggressions and measures in Jerusalem were also discussed.

The Jordanian monarch reiterated the need to achieve a comprehensive and just peace on the basis of the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.

The meeting touched on regional and international efforts made in the war on terrorism, according to a holistic approach.
