Baghdad MP Alia Nassif called on the President of the Republic and the PM to invest in holding the tripartite summit to mobilize Arab positions on the side of Iraq in light of the current situation in which Iraq is going through several challenges.
She said in a statement today that the convening of the tripartite Arab summit in Baghdad is in itself an important achievement in terms of restoring the pivotal role of Iraq in the Arab arena, and this step must be taken advantage of and invested in a way that serves the higher national interest.
Nassif indicated that yesterday, for example, the Popular Mobilization carried out a parade in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense and government figures in the country, and this government presence at the highest levels is a message to the Arab countries that this military formation is a regular formation that is under the orders of the Iraqi state, while the media of some Arab countries deliberately insult the crowd and describe it as militias, and therefore we hope that this message will reach the Arab leaders who are currently visiting Iraq and those who will visit Iraq in the future.
Nassif continued: The current challenges facing Iraq require support from the Arab countries and the strengthening of relations with them in a way that benefits us and them and strengthens our positions on the international arena, and accordingly we hope that the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister will invest this summit in this direction.
