Salih: Iraqi-Egyptian-Jordanian Cooperation Is A Turning Point Towards Prospects For Peace And Development In The Region

 

Baghdad The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, hosted today, Sunday, a lunch banquet in honor of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, King And Jordan’s King Abdullah II.

The President of the Republic stressed during the banquet, which was attended by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi and the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, that it is an “important occasion that we meet as Iraqis to host the two dear guests of Iraq, President Sisi and King Abdullah, stressing the importance of the relations between the three countries and efforts made to strengthen and consolidate them for the benefit of our peoples and the entire region.”

He said, “The Iraqi-Egyptian-Jordanian cooperation represents an important turning point in the region that has been beset by tensions, crises and conflicts for long periods, in order to move towards establishing security, stability and economic cooperation and to rely on dialogue and convergence in solving problems in response to the common challenges that everyone faces in combating terrorism and extremism, and strengthening economic, commercial partnerships and employment opportunities for our peoples.

Salih stressed the importance of “strengthening the level of coordination between the three countries and benefiting from geographical interdependence in developing broader horizons of cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and development, and establishing infrastructure, energy and oil projects, as well as continuing efforts to confront existing challenges in the fight against terrorism and extremism, and the repercussions of the Coronavirus and climate change and environmental protection, and it was also stressed the need to continue meeting regularly to coordinate positions and enhance tripartite cooperation.

He also stressed that “a secure, stable and sovereign Iraq and its relations with its Arab brothers and its Islamic neighborhood, and restoring its pivotal role is an important element in consolidating security, stability and development in the whole region, and pointing to the necessity of joint tripartite coordination in easing tensions, enhancing regional stability and finding solutions to current crises.”
