Baghdad Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi affirmed that the visit of King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to Iraq is an important message to our peoples that we are mutually supportive and integrated.
In his opening speech to the tripartite summit, Al-Kadhimi said: “I welcome my guests of Iraq, King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in Baghdad, the city of peace. We are pleased with you in Baghdad, this visit is an important message to our peoples that we are mutually supportive and integrated in order to work to serve our peoples and the peoples of the region
He added: “This visit takes place at a time and at a dangerous historical turning point in the region and all countries of the world, especially with the challenges of the Coronavirus. It is no secret to anyone that the most important challenges we face are the Coronavirus pandemic, the difficult economic conditions, security challenges and the fight against terrorism.”
He stressed: “Iraq has gone through a harsh experience in the face of terrorism, and thank God, we succeeded in eliminating these groups, although some small pockets remain for these gangs. We must work and coordinate between our three countries to confront these challenges and work to dispel them in order to serve our peoples and the peoples of the region.”
He pointed out: “Joint action requires consolidation and unification of positions in order to work on the path of development and the development of the region and its peoples. We hope to take advantage of all the possibilities available through geographical communication between the three countries in terms of economic fields, as well as in order to serve the social side in light of the delicate circumstances that the region is passing through.”
Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi affirmed: “We will continue to coordinate in the main regional files, such as the Syrian, Libyan, Yemeni and Palestinian files, and to crystallize a common vision towards these issues through cooperation and coordination, in order to help our brothers in these countries to cross challenges and crises.”
Al-Kadhimi added: “There are many memoranda of understanding that were previously signed between the three countries, and there are memoranda and agreements that we will sign in the near future.”
He added: “We are working to establish a permanent secretariat to coordinate the work between the three countries and work to develop and follow up on what we agree on. We are working to develop coordination in the security and intelligence fields, especially with regard to confronting terrorism and its financing, in addition to coordination in the fields of education and culture, youth, sports, arts, and health.”
