The Minister of Education calls for an Arab conference of private universities and colleges and the establishment of a fund to support scientific research

Baghdad The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Nabil Kadhem Abdel-Saheb, called for holding an Arab conference for private universities and colleges and studying the establishment of a fund to support scientific research.

This came during his meeting with a delegation from the Applied Science Private University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which included University President Mahfouz Judeh and in Cancer Biology and Immunology at the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Wamidh Hadi Talib, in the presence of the Director of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department Hazem Baqer Taher

The Minister of Education stressed, according to a statement by the Ministry, “the importance of holding an Arab international conference for private universities and colleges in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities to conduct a comprehensive review that contributes to enriching knowledge, updating the compass of innovations, and setting plans responsible for scientific, financial and administrative regulation to serve quality requirements and determining the output path in accordance with the requirements of Academic accreditation and strengthening areas in which scientific experiments can cross-fertilize to ensure the benefit of Arab countries according to the priorities responsible for the determinants of scientific and economic viability.

He added, “University education in the current stage is subject to the authority of changes, which requires educational institutions to move towards policies and mechanisms that are characterized by quality, flexibility, efficiency and competitiveness, keeping pace with the rapid development and movement of knowledge, extrapolating indicators and challenges, and establishing special treatments to secure an educational environment worthy of achieving comprehensive development.

He explained, “there is an urgent need for concerted efforts to advance Arab scientific research, enhance international reputation, and benefit from specialized applied research, especially in the medical and health fields. At the same time, he called for the efforts of researchers at the University of Applied Sciences and the Iraqi Center for Cancer and Medical Genetics Research at Al-Mustansiriya University.”

For his part, “Dr. Mahfouz Judeh expressed the readiness of the Applied Science Private University to provide aspects of cooperation and coordination with the specialized Iraqi universities, colleges and institutes in light of global changes, challenges and requirements, praising the project of the Arab Conference for Private Universities and Colleges called for by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.”
