Baghdad Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs, Qahtan Taha Khalaf, discussed with the Technical Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of Health and Environment Jassem Al-Falahi, cooperation between the two ministries in international, regional and national environmental issues.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Undersecretary received Al-Falahi at the ministry’s headquarters, and they discussed joint cooperation between the two ministries in international, regional and national environmental issues, especially climate change, because of its multiple political, economic and social dimensions that affect all countries of the world and affect the life of the individual and the state directly.
The two sides also discussed the importance of coordination to participate in relevant international forums and ways to prepare and coordinate them in advance. They also discussed the document of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), which Iraq will submit to the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which represents Iraq’s commitment to climate action.
The meeting was attended, according to the statement, by Abbas Kadhim Obaid, head of the International Organizations and Conferences Department in the ministry.
