Three boats carrying 12 Iraqi fishermen were detained near Khor Abdullah Canal

Basra The Kuwaiti Coast Guard seized three fishing boats carrying 12 Iraqi fishermen in the territorial waters of Khor Abdullah, south of Basra.

Head of the Basra Fishermen’s Association Badran Issa Badawi told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the Kuwaiti Coast Guard forces arrested 12 Iraqi fishermen and detained three fishing boats in Iraqi territorial waters after they approached the Khor Abdullah Canal in Al-Awamat area, pointing out that the fate of the fishermen and their boats is still unknown.

Badawi called on the Iraqi authorities to follow up the fate of the Iraqi fishermen, after the repeated cases of arresting them and seizing their boats in the Iraqi territorial waters.
