A foreign trader in his possession a million Captagon pills arrested

The National Security Agency announced today, Monday, the arrest of a foreign trader in his possession of one million Captagon pills, and the seizure of more than 8 kg of marijuana in a separate operation in a house near Al-Karkh, in Baghdad.

A statement by the Agency said, “the national security detachments in Baghdad managed, according to judicial notes, to set up an elaborate ambush that led to the overthrow of a drug dealer of “foreign nationality”, and seized large quantities of narcotic pills of the “Captagon” type, estimated at about “one million” pills, secretly hidden inside a truck that he intended to take to one of the northern governorates, in addition to seizing sums of money in Iraqi and foreign currencies.

The statement added that the Agency’s detachments were also able to seize more than (8) kilograms of the narcotic “marijuana” after raiding two homes and arresting (9) suspects who hid this substance in bags inside household statues and electrical appliances.

He pointed out that “in (Baghdad, Nineveh, and Salah al-Din), (23) accused of drug trafficking and transportation were arrested, in their possession of about (2,500) pills, and more than (3) kilograms of narcotic substances of various types and tools of abuse.”
