A Greek financial contribution to the Stabilization Program Fund for the Liberated Areas

Baghdad The United Nations Development Program in Iraq welcomed a contribution of 50,000 euros (59,400 US dollars) from the Government of Greece to the Stabilization Program Fund for Areas Liberated from ISIS.

The program said in a statement that this is the first contribution of Greece, which makes it the 29th partner in financing the Stabilization Program of the United Nations Development Program. This important contribution will be used in major projects for areas liberated from ISIS that still need support to ensure the provision of basic services to returnees.

It added that the Stabilization Program for the liberated areas has so far completed more than 2,900 projects in the areas liberated from ISIS, benefiting more than 14.7 million Iraqis.

It is noteworthy that the Stabilization Program for the Liberated Areas of the United Nations Development Program in Iraq was established in 2015 at the request of the Iraqi government and with the support of member states of the international coalition against ISIS, in order to facilitate the return of the displaced people through the rehabilitation of vital services and infrastructure to ensure access to basic services, Providing short and medium-term job opportunities, capacity building for municipalities, and strengthening community cohesion across the liberated areas of Anbar, Diyala, Kirkuk, Nineveh and Salah Al-Din.

The stabilization Program continues to work closely with the Iraqi government and local stakeholders to ensure that the needs of individuals affected by the conflict with ISIS are met
