A parliamentary committee warns of a serious deviation in the course of work of the security services

Baghdad  The Committee for the Follow-up to the Implementation of the Governmental Program and Parliamentary Strategic Planning has warned of a dangerous deviation in the course of work of the security services, stressing the need to remedy it with real accountability and imposing deterrent penalties against violators of the law.

Member of the committee, MP Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, wrote in a tweet on the social networking Twitter platform, “What is happening in prisons and detention centers, including insults and deadly torture, represents serious violations in the field of human rights, and a violation of the constitutional and legal guarantees of the accused, which is unfortunately a dangerous deviation in the course of the work of the security services must be remedied with real accountability and the imposition of deterrent penalties against violators of the law.”
