Baghdad / NINA / – The Judicial Development Institute organized, today, Saturday, a workshop attended by a number of media outlets, civil society organizations and heads of a number of unions.

A statement by the Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated, “The workshop, which was attended by the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, discussed several axes, the most important of which is the amendment of Article 57 of the Personal Status Law and freedom of expression, in addition to the issue of domestic violence.”

The statement added, “Judge Faiq Zaidan made a number of observations during the workshop regarding the axes that were raised, especially with regard to the rights of the demonstrators,” pointing out that “the judiciary attaches the utmost importance to this file.”

Zaidan confirmed, “The issuance of judicial rulings against those who assaulted demonstrators and civil activists.”/End
