Baghdad The Italian National Health Institute announced, today, Saturday, that it had recorded the first infection with the new “Omicron” strain of the Corona virus that causes “Covid-19” infection in the country.

The institute said in a statement: The genome sequence was determined in the Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology, Virology and Emergency Biodiagnostics at Sacco Hospital in Milan from a positive sample of a patient coming from Mozambique.

The statement indicated that the infected person and his family members with whom he came into contact are in good health.

Earlier on Saturday, it was announced that this strain had been monitored in Britain and Germany.
