Al-Araji chairs a meeting to coordinate the national effort to control radioactive sources and dangerous materials

Baghdad National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji chaired a meeting to coordinate the national effort to monitor radioactive sources and dangerous materials.

The chancellery stated in a statement: “Based on the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, the National Security Adviser chaired, today, Monday, an important meeting, to coordinate the national effort to monitor radioactive sources and dangerous materials, and to develop work between the National Control Authority for Non-Proliferation and the Iraqi Authority for radioactive sources.

The meeting was attended by agents of the National Intelligence and Security Services, and representatives of the Cabinet’s Advisory Board and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

During the meeting, they discussed the roles and responsibilities of the National Control Authority for Non-Proliferation and the Iraqi Commission for Radioactive Sources, and it was agreed to prepare recommendations for unifying and developing efforts, to enhance Iraq’s position in the international community and the level of its contribution to peace and security in the region.

The meeting concluded by agreeing to submit recommendations to the Prime Minister to update and develop work contexts at the national level.
