Al-Asadi From Basra: The Governorate Has Completed Preparations To Secure The Upcoming Elections

Basra Head of the National Security Apparatus Abdul Ghani Al-Asadi said, “Basra has passed the first security event, which is securing the pilgrims (visitors of Imam Hussein heading to Karbala on foot),” pointing to the completion of preparations for the second event, which is securing the elections.

Al-Asadi stressed during a joint press conference held with Governor Asaad Al-Eidani and security leaders today, “There is a security plan prepared in order to secure the visitors after they left Basra in coordination with all the security services, including the National Security Agency.” Pointing to the doubling of security measures on the day of the upcoming elections on the tenth of next month..

Al-Asadi added that he discussed with the Basra local government, its governor and security leaders the polling sites and preparing a tight security plan to cover the margins of surprises that might occur here and there.

In addition, Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani said during the conference that a meeting was held with the head of the National Security Apparatus, in which we discussed the plan to secure the upcoming elections and smooth access for citizens to polling stations.

Al-Eidani added that there is coordination between all the security services in the province for the purpose of taking measures to secure the elections on the tenth of next month.

The head of the National Security Apparatus, Abdul-Ghani Al-Asadi, had arrived in Basra Governorate to discuss strengthening security and intelligence cooperation with the security services and the local government in the province, and to supervise the implementation stages of the plan for securing the paths of the pilgrims (visitors of Imam Hussein heading to Karbala on foot)and polling stations.
