Baghdad The independent MP, Mansour Al-Baiji, stressed that the delivery of any amount of money to the Kurdistan Regional Government outside the agreement that took place and was fixed in the current year’s budget is considered looting of the money of our governorates, and any party that spends will bear the legal responsibility before everyone
Al-Baiji indicated in a statement that, the Kurdistan Regional Government has been procrastinating in handing over what was agreed upon between it and the federal government since the approval of the country’s general budget and until now, on what did the government rely and will spend to the regional government, which did not abide by the agreement and did not deliver anything of its revenues to the federal government.
He said, “releasing the share of the Kurdistan region retroactively, and it did not commit and did not hand over the federal government one dinar, is considered looting of the money of our provinces, and this matter cannot be tolerated permanently, and the representatives of other provinces must have a serious stand to preserve the rights of our provinces that have been suffering from injustice and marginalization since the fall of the former regime until now.
Al-Baiji added, “We are not against giving the Kurdistan region’s share, but the regional government must abide by the budget law and hand over what it owes to the federal government, as is the case with other provinces, so as to receive its share, but we are surprised that the region’s share is released and the latter did not hand over anything to the government, and this matter is unacceptable.”
He continued, “The law must be applied to everyone, especially what was voted on in the general budget law, and any party that releases the money away from this agreement bears legal responsibility and will be held accountable within the House of Representatives if it releases the money away from the agreement in the budget law, because this is considered looting of the money of all our governorates without exception.”
