Al-Ghazi Assures British Ambassador The Govt’s Readiness To Hold Parliamentary Elections On Time

Baghdad Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi, received British Ambassador Stephen Hickey, on the occasion of the end of his tenure in Iraq.

Al-Ghazi confirmed, according to a statement by the secretariat, that: the Iraqi government is fully prepared to hold the parliamentary elections on the date that was set on the tenth of next October, and that it has worked to create the appropriate atmosphere to hold them.

He praised the role played by the British ambassador during his tenure in Iraq over the past period, and his positive handling of the Iraqi file in various fields, wishing him success in his next mission.

Hickey expressed Britain’s readiness to provide support to the Iraqi government and the Independent High Electoral Commission, through diplomatic channels, for the success of democratic practice, praising the positive results achieved during the British Foreign Minister’s visit to Iraq last week.
